“My new favorite headquarters for comfort food! OMG--where have you been all my life? I'd heard about this place for a while but always assumed people were just talking about a "local" spot... not a place actually named Lokal. My loss. Lokal is a glorious smorgasbord of fusion flavors--Vietnamese, Korean, Mexican... and somehow it all works. If there were ever a synonym for food porn, Lokal would be in the running. My personal faves: Kpop Fries - OMG. Addictive. Korean BBQ Banh Mi - Flavor bomb. Chimichurri Steak - That sauce... WHAT is that sauce?? The only problem? Deciding which favorite to order each visit. Since I've jumped on the LA intermittent fasting train, I'm limited to one large daily entrée, so every meal here becomes a first-world, existential palate crisis. If you love bold flavors and comfort food with an international twist, Lokal is your spot. If you see a guy with gorgeous blonde hair, large delts and triceps, relatively good-looking, but clearly lost in decision crisis.... that'll be me."
"Where has this place been all my life? For years, I thought people were talking about some random neighborhood joint… turns out they were talking about Lokal—and I’ve been missing out big time. This place is a fusion comfort food wonderland. Vietnamese, Korean, Mexican… flavors from everywhere somehow working together in perfect harmony. If “food porn” had an entry in the dictionary, Lokal would be a strong contender for the cover photo. My current obsessions: Kpop Fries – Highly addictive. Proceed with caution. Korean BBQ Banh Mi – Pure flavor explosion. Chimichurri Steak – That sauce… someone needs to bottle it. My only struggle here? Picking just one entrée per visit. Since I’ve hopped on the LA intermittent fasting train, I only get one big meal a day—meaning each visit is basically a full-on palate crisis. If bold flavors and creative comfort food are your thing, put Lokal at the top of your list. And if you spot a guy with blonde hair, built shoulders, and the expression of someone facing the toughest decision of his week—that’s probably me."
"Normally, I'm not a big sandwich guy. It's tough to make a sandwich stand out from the pack, when you can get a sandwich at just about any food spot nowadays. Well, Lokal Sandwich + Burger Bar understands what it takes to whip up an A-tier sandwich (bahn mi). - Fresh, toasted, soft, and crispy bread - Crisp, fresh, house-made fillings - Delicious, tender, flavorful meat - Well priced, filling portions - Authentic and original tasting The ribeye bahn mi was all of those things. On top of that, the workers are incredibly friendly and hospitable, and the vibe is charming, upbeat, and fun. Add this spot to your Westside food list!"
"Best happy hour on the westside. Price to quality is unmatched. Don’t think just go."
"Absolutely delicious food here - specially the breakfast burritos, spicy (grilled) chicken sandwich and the burgers - all at the right price! Service is always good and the staff are always helpful. Small but nice indoor and outdoor seating options."
“Great smallish neighborhood sandwich shop that also serves coffee in the Palms area. ... On my most recent visit, I got the Lokal ‘Dac Biet’ sandwich—great combination if not traditional. ... The prices are reasonable as well. I’m a fan of this place."
"Best banh mi and viet coffee in west la hands down. i come from the 626 where viet food is plentiful and delicious, and viet food is very rare here in west la. but the banh mi, albeit more pricy than youd find in 626 or westminster, is well worth the price. theyre generous with the mayo and pate 🙏🙏🙏🙏 the viet coffee is creamy and strong and the condensed milk comes thru so nicely. highly recommend this place to all my friends missing a good banh mi. :)"
“I've been meaning to try Lokal for a while, and I finally got around to ordering pickup for lunch. I opted for the popular Old Skool Banh Mi and TBLT (turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes). Pickup was fast, friendly, and efficient, and I was soon ready to dig into my food. The portions for each sandwich were very generous, definitely enough to fill you up for lunch (and possibly for dinner)! I really enjoyed my banh mi, with creamy pâté, refreshing pickled veggies, and a fresh, crispy, and chewy baguette that made everything a symphony. Honestly, it's on-par with many banh mi I've eaten throughout my life. My partner had the TBLT, so I only got a few bites. However, it was also tasty with flavorful mayo and chockful of turkey inside. Solid sandwich as well! I'd be happy to try more sandwiches from Lokal soon. I'll be back!”
"Stopped into Lokal and boy is this a busy sandwich shop. I had the Italian job sandwich. Really delicious! There is indoor as well as outdoor seating. Real cool music playing. This a fur baby friendly. I enjoyed the decor. Fresh cup of water for customers at the water station. Paula was wonderful and made feel like I was one of their regular customers. I’ll definitely will be back to enjoy the food and atmospheres! So many beautiful healthy plants."
"Very busy spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Still spacious enough to enjoy your meal. I got the dineLA kbbq banh mi with Jasmine tea. Unfortunately my sandwich was too salty and the meat quality wasn't up to par. But my tea was awesome. My friend got the chimichurri steak sandwich and loved it. I'll have to try that next time and try a different sandwich."
